Sales Agent Apprentice Education (SAE)
  • New licensed salespersons are required to have completed 270 core real estate and related classroom hours as well as 4 Hours of Legal Update I and 4 Hours of Legal Update II by the end of the first renewal (2 years) of licensure (180 hours of which were already completed before application for license). See the appropriate text and chart on the Sales Agent Apprentice Education (SAE) requirements page. A GRI course is the easiest way to complete the remaining 90 SAE hours you need within your first two years. Be sure to check our Education & Events Calendar to find the class you wish to register for.

Continuing Education (CE) Requirements

(for Individual Brokers and for Salespersons who have satisfied SAE requirements)

Continuing Education (MCE) refers to the Real Estate License Act's continuing education requirement (§1101.455) of 18 classroom hours (8 hours of which are the approved Legal Update I & Legal Update II courses) to be completed during each two-year renewal period. A broker who sponsors a sales agent OR a license holder who is a delegated supervisor of one or more license holders for 6 months or more during the current license term must also attend a 6 hour Continuing Education (CE) Broker Responsibility course as required by the Texas Occupations Code §1101.458.

Effective September 1, 2012, a broker who sponsors a sales agent, or is a designated broker of a business entity at any time during the license term OR a license holder who is a delegated supervisor of one or more license holders for 6 months or more during the current license term must also attend a 6 hour Continuing Education (CE) Broker Responsibility course as required by the Texas Occupations Code §1101.458.
